I can’t quite believe it, but Monday the 12th marked my 33rd trip around the sun.

I’m a birthday person. I love my birthday. I’m big on rituals, and the ritual of celebration might be one of my favorites. There’s something sacred about the fact that each of us gets one day a year to be honored just for being alive.

And while it’s usually the birthday girl who receives a gift or two, I’d actually really love to give you a gift instead: a letter packed with the most valuable intel I’ve gathered over a decade of travel.

In honor of year 33, below you’ll find 33 of my most-loved travel hacks: the smartest ways to streamline your suitcase, the rituals that make red-eyes tolerable, the habits that instantly make a hotel room feel like home, and more. I really tried to think outside the box here, so the tips you’re about to read below aren’t the kind you’ll find on TikTok or TripAdvisor (unless I put them there). 😉

Here’s just a taste of what’s inside…

  • My no-fail in-flight sleep routine (even if you’re stuck in an economy middle seat)

  • The unexpected seat you should always book if you want less turbulence

  • My trick for getting a hotel robe without paying a cent

  • A packing method to always bring the perfect amount of clothing

  • Tips to make your suitcase hold twice as much

  • The app I use to plan spontaneous detours and find hidden gems mid-trip

Keep an eye out for this emoji (👩🏼‍✈️), which denotes one of my top travel tips.
