Seatmates: Liv Perez
On the city that made her a lifelong over-dresser, a wedding backdrop that became a character, and the Paris hotel stay she’ll never forget
This interview is part of Seatmates, a Window Seat series where tastemakers and creatives share how they move through the world—what they pack, where they stay, and the travel rituals that shape their lives.
Liv Perez treats style like a passport—it can take you anywhere if you know how to use it. As the host of Let’s Get Dressed—both a successful podcast and newsletter—as well as a style contributor to the Today Show, she’s built a career inspiring people to see getting dressed as more than just a daily routine. Hundreds of thousands trust her style instincts; she’s collaborated with brands like Chanel, sat front row at fashion weeks around the world, and built a global reputation for thoughtful, modern fashion commentary.
It’s no surprise, then, that she approaches travel with the same discerning eye—packing with precision and treating every trip as a chance to tell a new story through the lens of style. For Liv, a great itinerary is as satisfying as a perfectly tailored pair of pants.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a fashion journalist and enthusiast based in Los Angeles. I wear many hats—I host the style podcast Let’s Get Dressed, am a style contributor to the Today Show, and write a weekly newsletter on Substack. I’m really passionate about helping people feel their best through personal style, whether it’s through the clothing they wear, the confidence they exude, and how they can elevate your everyday life.
In your podcast, Let’s Get Dressed, you once said you treat getting dressed like a form of storytelling. What city do you think dresses the best—and what story are they telling?
New York City! I lived there for a decade, an I definitely think it left its mark on how I dress every day. I’m a serial over-dresser—if you ever need someone to convince you to buy a dress because you think you have nowhere to wear it, give me a call. There’s just something about New York that makes you want to get dressed up. It’s a city where you’re constantly on the go—it’s a fast-paced, creative environment, and I think the people who live there and what they wear are just as fascinating. If you ever need style inspiration, grab a coffee and people-watch.
You just celebrated your first wedding anniversary–congratulations! Your wedding in the Cotswolds was absolutely stunning. What surprised you most about planning a destination wedding, not just logistically but emotionally?
Thank you! The Cotswolds was truly the dream backdrop for our weekend. I still pinch myself that we got married there.
Logistically, my biggest takeaway is to do as much locally as possible. From florists and photographers to even the little details like Etsy finds, working with creatives in the area made everything feel more personal and a lot easier. We loved getting to meet so many talented people who brought our vision to life.
Emotionally, what surprised me most was how much the location became a character in the weekend itself. We chose the Cotswolds because it’s one of our favorite places in the world, and we wanted our community to experience it, too. I’ll never forget seeing our friends exploring the property, soaking it all in, and hearing their stories about it even a year later. Now, when someone tells us they’re planning a return trip, it’s the best feeling! I love knowing that a place we hold so close is now part of their travels, too.
If you were designing the welcome ritual for your own boutique hotel, what would the check-in experience look like?
I never really like feeling like a tourist, and love when a hotel makes you feel like you’re returning home. The dream experience is something that’s seamless but also really personal—no lines, no paperwork, just a warm greeting and a sense that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. And an upgrade, always.
What’s been your most memorable stay?
The Hotel Crillon in Paris was a masterclass in hospitality unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. There wasn’t a detail spared—from embroidered pillow cases, to photos of my husband and me in the room, and a stuffed animal to take home for my newborn niece. There was a day when my mom and I went shopping, and upon our arrival back to the hotel, a bath was waiting for me with a note that said “for after a long day of shopping.” I’ll never forget it!
Is there a destination or property at the top of your wishlist?
All of the Airelles properties are definitely on my list—especially the one inside the Palace of Versailles. And Villa Feltrinelli!
What are your must-haves when it comes to luggage and items you travel with?
I’m definitely a packing aficionado—I’m always on the hunt for things that can make my travel days that much easier. I love Rimowa suitcases and have noticed that the Polycarbonate ones are the best quality and last the longest. I have the Carry on and Trunk in Pine (a discontinued color which is such a shame!!) but they have another great green now too. I really love the compartments in their Trunk size—there’s an area specifically for shoes and its’s nice to keep those separate. I use packing cubes always and usually pack in categories, Cadence capsules for my beauty products and supplements, and Abbode Waffle Bags for toiletries and carry-on beauty products. I also could never travel without my Bose QuietComfort headphones—I’ve tried so many noise-cancelling headphones and these are by far the best!
I think the more organized a packer you are, the better trip you have.
What is your go-to airport outfit?
Growing up, my mom was always the elegant woman at the airport—she taught me to always look presentable no matter where you are. The Enza Costa Everywhere Pant is ideal for travel—they look like an elevated slack but they’re really soft and light. (Ed. Note: These are also my preferred travel pants!) I’ll usually pair it with a white or black tank from Reformation and my Adidas Sambas. I also love to wear a trench while traveling no matter the season. Airports are always cold and they’re an easy layer that can pack easily in a suitcase. My go-to is from Mimchik.
Do you have any rules or rituals when it comes to air travel?
I travel monthly for work, so I’ve got my routine down to a science. Sometimes I laugh at myself going through security—I feel like George Clooney in Up in the Air (great movie). If it’s a quick trip, I usually drive myself and park at LAX. That solo time in the car really sets a calm tone for the day, and the In-N-Out drive-through on the way home is a major perk.
I’m a Delta/CLEAR/TSA PreCheck girl, and I love that I can get from curb to gate in under 20 minutes. That said, I hate feeling rushed, so I still make sure I’m there at least an hour early.
When I fly, I almost always work, unless it’s a red eye. Something about being in the air helps me focus—no distractions, and the wifi is just spotty enough that I can really lock in. Honestly, I’ve always loved traveling. There’s something about being in transit that feels like my own little world.
Last question: aisle or window seat?
Window! My phone always needs more photos out the window.
