Window shopping #38
An iconic bedside brunch, Park Hyatt Tokyo's much-awaited return, and how an airline is rewarding kindness this holiday season
This is Window Shopping, a weekly mini-letter from Window Seat—your stylish scroll through what’s new and noteworthy in the world of travel. Each issue blends timely headlines, personal favorites, and design-forward hotels to keep your wanderlust well-fed.
No one does room service like the Waldorf. They did invent it, after all! Introducing The Waldorf Astoria Wake Up: a limited-edition, in-room brunch for two created with Hilton Honors and American Express to celebrate the hotel’s legacy as the birthplace of 24-hour room service. The experience includes offerings like Eggs Benedict topped with caviar, champagne, and the iconic Waldorf Salad prepared bedside. I was able to get a preview and can confirm: it does not disappoint. Available to book now through 2/13; Hilton Honors Amex Card Members receive preferred pricing when they present their Card at check-in.
After a highly anticipated renovation, Park Hyatt Tokyo officially reopens on next week on December 9th! The refresh preserves the property’s warm, atmospheric identity while updating the guest rooms, dining spaces, and infamous New York Bar for a new era. For design lovers and Hyatt loyalists, this is one of the biggest reopenings of the year and will likely reset the bar yet again for luxury hotels in Japan.
Delta just turned goodwill into a loyalty perk. They just launched Centennial Cheer, a holiday initiative that turns acts of kindness into surprise upgrades of sorts. Now through January 5th, employees will be watching for moments of genuine humanity in the travel journey—returning a lost item, helping another passenger—and gifting limited-edition cards to those caught in the act that can be redeemed for items like gift shop merch and Delta gift cards worth up to $500. It is one of the few airline activations this year that does not hinge on status or spend; it is simply about travelers being decent to one another at a time when airports need it most. More of this, please!
A very exciting long-haul route is coming to the US-Korea market. United will become the only US carrier offering nonstop service to Seoul when it launches its new route in September 2026. It’s a meaningful expansion for the network and a smart move strategically, given Seoul’s rising profile in culture, food, beauty, and design. You can already book the flight, making this a rare moment when you can plan almost two years ahead for a route that is guaranteed to become competitive.
If you need a holiday gift for someone you do not know very well—a coworker, a host, or that one person who insists they want nothing—Flamingo Estate is the most reliable crowd-pleaser I have found. Everything they make feels transportive and indulgent without being fussy, and their personalized gifts always land. They read as considered, elevated, and universally appealing, which is exactly what you want in a December gift that feels thoughtful but not super intimate.
My top picks:
Hotel Irada — Pune Wine Country, India
Hotel Irada has been making its rounds across the moodboards of every design-forward traveler I follow, and for good reason. Hotel Irada sits on 66 acres of vineyard-dotted countryside about 75 minutes outside Pune, and it is one of the most compelling new design hotels in India. Once Vijay Mallya’s private estate, the property has reopened as a 32–key sanctuary where every room includes a private balcony and curated in-room bar. Between yoga at Nyasa, champagne cacio e pepe at Rosso, highballs at Lola, and private dinners in the forest, Irada feels less like a hotel and more like it’s own private world to get lost in.
